Abstract Portrait

For this project, students have a conversation with a classmate to explore each other’s personality and then paint a portrait of each other in the expressionist style to depict that personality. At this point in the course, students understand that Expressionism is a style of painting that aims to have a high emotional impact by distorting and exaggerating color, shape, and surface texture.
