This project involves creating an abstract non-representational value design. Students work with geometrical or organic shapes, or combinations of both. The shapes must intersect with each other, and each resulting shape should be shaded gradually and accurately from a light value to a dark value. Each adjacent shape should have a light-to-dark gradation in the opposite direction of the previous one. Interconnected shapes must have visible value contrasts (light next to dark or dark next to light). The materials used are pencils and Bristol paper.
